Mangaluru: Man held for attempted sword attack amid marital dispute

Mangaluru, Apr 25, 2026: A man was arrested for allegedly attempting a sword attack following a marital dispute in the city on Friday night.

The accused, identified as Naveen, a resident of Vamanjoor, had been living separately after his wife divorced him and moved to Jokatte a few months ago.

According to reports, Naveen went to the residence of Devi Prasad in Kalavar carrying a sword and allegedly tried to attack him along with his parents.

Devi Prasad immediately alerted emergency services by calling 112. While trying to flee from the spot on his bike, Naveen reportedly lost control and fell.

Local residents informed the police, who rushed to the scene and detained him.

Based on a complaint filed by Devi Prasad, a case has been registered against Naveen under Section 307 of the IPC and relevant provisions of the Arms Act.

The accused is currently in police custody and will be produced before the court.
