Mangaluru: Man arrested for sexual assault on minor boy

Mangaluru, Mar 19, 2026: Authorities have arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with the sexual assault of a nine-year-old boy within the Konaje police station limits. The incident came to light following a formal complaint lodged on March 18, 2026.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, the accused allegedly lured the young victim by offering money and snacks. Investigation reveals that the suspect took the boy to a secluded spot where the assault occurred. Furthermore, the accused is alleged to have shown the child explicit videos and incited him into inappropriate acts.

The arrested individual has been identified as Ashish Poojary (33), a resident of Madyar. Reports indicate that Poojary was employed at MSC Logistics in Bejai.

The Konaje police have officially registered a case under the following legal frameworks:

* POCSO Act: Sections 4, 6, and 12 (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences).

* Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS): Section 75.

The suspect was taken into custody immediately following the complaint and has been produced before the court. Local authorities have confirmed that a deeper investigation into the matter is currently underway to ensure all facts are documented for trial.
