Mangaluru: Major fire guts shoe shop in Hampankatta

Mangaluru, Jul 28, 2026: A major fire broke out at a shoe shop in Hampankatta on Tuesday morning, completely gutting the shop and causing extensive property damage.

The blaze, which reportedly started at the Europe Shoe shop, quickly spread to two adjacent shops, raising alarm among nearby traders and residents.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and launched an operation to bring the fire under control. Preliminary information suggests that the fire may have been triggered by a short circuit, although the exact cause is yet to be confirmed.

The incident resulted in heavy losses, and officials are assessing the extent of the damage. No casualties have been reported so far.
