Mangaluru, Mar 5, 2026: MLA Dr. Bharath Shetty has alleged that he was not invited when District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao visited on Wednesday to inspect the sewerage works and upgradation project at the Pacchanadi STP in the city, as well as the STP upgradation works in Surathkal and the South constituency.
He stated that around ₹40 crore has been sanctioned under the Central Government’s Swachh Bharat scheme and the National Green Tribunal (NGT) grant. According to him, the state government’s role is limited to implementation. He also said that during his first term itself he had written to the authorities and taken steps to bring funds for the sewerage project.
Dr. Shetty further said that Dinesh Gundu Rao, who is the district in-charge minister, rarely visits the district. Even when he does, he attends government meetings and programmes and presents them as party programmes. He expressed dissatisfaction that the Pacchanadi programme should have been conducted in the presence of the local MLA, but due to the influence of local Congress leaders, officials did not even inform him about the visit.
He also remarked that the Congress cannot tolerate the dominance and good work of BJP MLAs in the district and is trying to claim credit for the project as its own achievement.
