Mangaluru Lokayukta officials conduct surprise inspection at Honnavar tahsildar office

Honnavar, Aug 19, 2026: A special team of Lokayukta officials from Mangaluru conducted a surprise inspection at the Honnavar taluk tahsildar’s office on Tuesday, August 18.

The four-member team examined important files and official records at the office and questioned officials in connection with the inspection. During the operation, Lokayukta officials reportedly took possession of the mobile phones of officers, staff and outsourced employees who were present on duty.

The mobile phone of the Honnavar tahsildar, who is currently holding additional charge in Bhatkal, was also examined, according to sources.

The Lokayukta team reportedly scrutinised online money transfer transactions made through platforms such as PhonePe and Google Pay using the phones of officials and staff. The team also collected details regarding the disposal of files, fees collected by the office and pending files.

Members of the public who had visited the office were allowed to enter, and routine official work was reportedly not affected by the inspection.

The scrutiny of documents continued until late evening. Further details regarding the purpose and findings of the operation are expected to emerge after the investigation is completed.
