Mangaluru: Karavali Utsava from December 20; Pilikula Parba to be special attraction

Mangaluru, December 19, 2025: As in previous years, the Karavali Utsava will begin on December 20, offering a wide range of attractions including an exhibition, food festival, sports, cultural and entertainment programmes. The festival will continue till January 31, with colourful cultural and adventure programmes being organised at various locations across the district. As part of this, the Pilikula Parba will be held at Pilikula from December 20 to January 4.

Deputy Commissioner Darshan H.V. said at a press conference that musical evenings featuring renowned singers Kailash Kher and Vijay Prakash will be organised during the festival.

The main events will be held at the Karavali Utsava Grounds in the city, where nationally acclaimed Indian artists will present diverse cultural and entertainment programmes. To attract tourists to the district’s beaches, several events will also be organised along the coastline as part of the festival.

As part of the celebrations, Kadri Park will host an Art Fest, flower and fruit exhibition, sweet food festival, and a dog show featuring various breeds. A film festival will be organised in Mangaluru city, while football tournaments will be held at the Nehru Maidan football ground. A golf tournament will also be organised at the Pilikula park.

To enable the public to enjoy the beauty of the city and beaches, helicopter rides will be arranged at Sultan Battery and Panambur. In the evening, a music festival will be organised at Tannirbhavi Beach to entertain visitors enjoying a seaside outing.

The district administration has appealed to the public to participate enthusiastically in all the programmes along with family and friends and make the Karavali Utsav a grand success. The exhibition, food festival, Karavali awards ceremony and entertainment programmes are expected to provide a refreshing break from the stressful routines of daily life. The festival will also serve as a major platform for locals and tourists to celebrate Christmas and the New Year, the Deputy Commissioner said.

The cultural programmes at the Karavali Utsava Grounds will be inaugurated on December 20. On December 21, a Cake and Wine Festival will be held at the Tannirbhavi Blue Flag Beach. Helicopter rides will be available at Sultan Battery–Panambur Beach from December 23 to January 2.

The Deputy Commissioner also said that the Pilikula baby tiger cub will be a special attraction for visitors during the festival. District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr. Narwade Vinayak Karbari, Deputy Conservator of Forests Antony S. Mariappa, Additional Deputy Commissioner Raju K., Pilikula Development Authority Commissioner Dr. Arun Kumar Shetty, and others were present at the press conference.
