Mangaluru International Airport strengthening security with infrastructure enhancement

Mangaluru, Sept 9, 2025: Mangaluru International Airport Limited (MgIAL) has introduced a new set of facilities aimed at strengthening security and enhancing passenger safety at the airport.

The upgrades include a dedicated training ground for the Quick Response Team (QRT), additional kennels for the CISF K9 squad, and a Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar (KPKB) outlet offering daily essentials at subsidised rates. While the QRT ground and kennels focus on operational readiness and canine welfare, the KPKB is intended to improve staff welfare.

The facilities were inaugurated by Jose Mohan, Inspector-General of Police, Airport Sector-2, CISF, who also witnessed live demonstrations of QRT drills and K9 capabilities. The two Belgian Malinois and two Labradors attached to the Airport Security Group (ASG) showcased their agility and detection skills during the event.

Senior officials from the airport and CISF’s ASG unit were present at the ceremony. Commending the collaborative effort, Mr. Mohan reiterated CISF’s commitment to supporting infrastructure that enhances both safety and service.

With these initiatives, Mangaluru International Airport continues to reinforce its reputation as a secure and passenger-focused gateway for the region.
