Mangaluru: Illegal cattle transportation intercepted; two detained

Mangaluru, May 16, 2026: Police intercepted a truck allegedly transporting cattle in a cruel and illegal manner on the national highway at Jeppinamogaru in Mangaluru on Friday.

The operation was carried out following a tip-off from Bajrang Dal. Police stopped the truck and found 27 cattle allegedly tied and being transported under inhumane conditions.

According to preliminary information, the cattle were being transported from Haveri to Kerala via Mangaluru.

Police have taken two persons into custody in connection with the incident and further investigation is underway.
