Mangaluru: Haveri man gets 20 years RI for sexually abusing minor girl

Mangaluru, Oct 07, 2023: The Additional Sessions Court of Mangaluru has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a case of sexually abusing a six year old girl.

 

The convict is Benakaraja Lamani alias Raj (25) from Haveri. He was working as a home nurse and was employed to take care of the grandfather of the girl at his house near Suratkal. During his stay at the house, he had sexually abused the girl when her mother had gone out to buy medicines in January 2022. He had even bitten the girl and had injured her.

A case was then registered against the accused in women’s police station of Mangaluru and subsequently a charge sheet was filed.

The court has also directed the Legal Services Authority to provide a compensation of Rs 2 lakhs to the victim.
