Mangaluru: GPL Utsav 2026 to be held from April 10–12 at Mulki-Hejmady

Mangaluru, Apr 9, 2026: The 10th edition of the GPL Utsav, an event aimed at uniting the Gowda Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) community, will be held from April 10 to 12 at Shanbhog Kudru in Mulki-Hejmady.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, GPL Utsav Committee member Kiran Shenai said the festival, which began in 2017, has now entered its milestone 10th year. This year’s “Amgile The Original Abharan GPL Utsav 2026” will be celebrated as a decennial edition with a three-day lineup of sports and cultural activities from 10 am till late night.

Cricket Tournament:

A major highlight of the event will be the GPL Cup cricket tournament, featuring 16 teams comprising GSB players from states including Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Telangana. Matches will be played on a newly ഒരുക്കed turf ground under floodlights at Shanbhog Kudru. Attractive prizes will be awarded after each match, while the “Player of the Series” will receive a new bike. Awards will also be given in categories such as Best Batsman, Best Bowler, and Best Fielder. The winning and runner-up teams will receive cash prizes, trophies, and medals.

Food Court:

A special food court with multiple counters will offer a variety of vegetarian delicacies from South and North India. From local favourites to beverages sourced from Srinagar, visitors can enjoy a wide range of cuisines in a comfortable setting, with exclusive arrangements for special guests and dignitaries.

Boating:

Boating facilities will be arranged on the Shambhavi river, offering options such as speed boats, family boats, jet skiing, and kayaking, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors.

Kids’ Zone:

A dedicated kids’ zone with specially curated games will be set up, featuring new attractions to mark the 10th anniversary celebrations.

Shambhavi Aarti:

A special aarti will be performed on the banks of the Shambhavi river, similar to the Ganga aarti in Haridwar and Varanasi.

Cultural Programmes:

A grand stage has been set up for cultural performances, including Bharatanatyam, music, dance, instrumental shows, and singing by talented artists from the GSB community.

Panchayati Katte:

A traditional interactive space will host poetry sessions, storytelling, and informal discussions.

Pet Show & Carnival Games:

Visitors can bring their pets for a special pet शो featuring ramp walks. A variety of fun games and competitions for families will also be आयोजित under the GPL Sports Carnival.

Camel & Horse Rides:

Free camel and horse riding will be available for both children and adults at the venue.

Flea Market:

Over 100 stalls will showcase and sell homemade products, handicrafts, garments, and daily-use items, providing a platform for community entrepreneurs, especially women.

The event will also feature live music shows, a Konkani drama by Kullappu Nataka Team, Zumba sessions, and the presentation of the “Person of the Year 2026” award.

The organisers have invited full support from media and the community to make the event a grand success.
