
Mangaluru, Aug. 5, 2026: A 63-year-old man who had been absconding abroad in connection with a 2019 case registered at the Kankanady Town Police Station was arrested upon his arrival in India.
The accused, identified as Ashok Narayan (63), a resident of Andheri West, Mumbai, had allegedly evaded arrest since the case was registered in 2019. Police said he failed to appear before the court, changed his address to avoid being traced, and was later chargesheeted for absconding.
During the investigation, officers found that the accused had travelled abroad. After obtaining his passport details, the Mangaluru City Police issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) through the office of the Police Commissioner.
On August 1, Ashok Narayan was intercepted and arrested at Mumbai Airport upon his arrival from overseas. The following day, Kankanady Town Police personnel, ASI Jagadish and staff member Ravikumar, took him into custody and produced him before the court.
