Mangaluru, Aug 8, 2025: Four individuals have been arrested by the Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) for allegedly attempting to sell MDMA. Following a tip-off, they were arrested at Bangra Kulur, Padukodi village.
Commissioner of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy C H said the arrested are Devaraj Poojary alias Devu (38), a resident of Sampige Nagar, Udyavara village, Udupi taluk; Jeevan Amin (32), a resident of Padu Palipar village, Kaup taluk; Imran (40), a resident of Thiruvail village, Moodushedde post, Mangaluru city; and B. Mohammad Hanif (56), a resident of Ashok Nagar.
A case has been registered against them under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act at the CEN station.
During the raid, police seized 51 grams of MDMA, along with seven mobile phones, a car and an SUV, and Rs 11,990 in cash. The estimated value of MDMA is Rs 2,500 per gram, making the total worth of the seized drug approximately Rs 1.27 lakh, said the commissioner.
The commissioner said that according to preliminary investigations, Devaraj Poojary is an active drug peddler operating across Udupi, Shivamogga, and Mangaluru, while the other three suspects were involved in selling MDMA in Mangaluru city.
Police stated that the accused had packed the MDMA in small sachets for distribution to the public. Further investigation is underway.
