Mangaluru, Nov 17, 2025: Hackers have allegedly hacked the WhatsApp account of former MLA Moideen Bava and demanded large sums of money from several people in his contact list.
Since this afternoon, the hackers—using Bava’s own WhatsApp number—have sent messages to journalists, police personnel, and others in his contact list, asking them for money.
Recipients received a message from Bava’s number saying, “I need your help.” Thinking Bava was in some trouble, they asked what had happened. The hackers then replied in English with a long story, shared another UPI ID, and asked them to transfer money and send a screenshot of the payment.
Shocked by the unusual request, many people called Bava directly. Bava reportedly told them his number had been hacked.
It is said that several people have already received such messages. Those who got the message contacted Bava, and he has been repeatedly clarifying that his WhatsApp has been hacked.
Bava has urged the public not to respond to any messages asking for money from his number, stating that his account has been compromised. He said he would be filing a complaint with the police.
