Mangaluru: Fishing boat capsizes off Surathkal coast; six fishermen rescued

Mangaluru, Jul 17, 2026: A fishing boat capsized off the coast near Surathkal on the outskirts of Mangaluru on Thursday after being hit by strong sea waves.

The traditional fishing boat had set out for fishing from Malpe Harbour in Udupi with six fishermen on board. The vessel overturned after being battered by rough waves.

All six fishermen, who are natives of Andhra Pradesh, fell into the sea but were rescued safely by local fishermen who rushed to their aid.

No casualties were reported in the incident.
