Mangaluru, Aug 30, 2025: The Additional District and Sessions Court, FTSC-2 (POCSO), has sentenced a 34-year-old man to five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 for sexually assaulting his three-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
The accused, originally from Ranebennur-Bailur and currently residing in Bajpe, was found guilty of the offence committed on December 18, 2024. A case had been registered at Bajpe police station, and then-inspector Sandeep had filed the charge sheet.
Presiding Judge K.S. Manu delivered the verdict after hearing the case. Under Section 10 of the POCSO Act, the accused was awarded 5 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 15,000, with an additional two months’ simple imprisonment in case of default. Under Section 12, he was sentenced to 1 year of simple imprisonment and fined Rs 5,000, with an additional 1 month of simple imprisonment in default.
The court also directed that the victim be paid Rs 20,000 from the fine amount, along with an additional compensation of Rs 30,000 from the District Legal Services Authority.
Special Public Prosecutor Sahana Devi Boluru argued the case on behalf of the state.
