Mangaluru: Father and son arrested for moral policing, assault on minor boy

Mangaluru, Feb 26, 2026: Pandeshwar police have arrested a father and son on charges of moral policing and assaulting a minor boy in the city’s Babugudde area. The accused have been identified as Steven Monteiro and his son Avil.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred on Monday evening when a schoolboy and a schoolgirl, both minors, were sitting on a railway track at Babugudde. The accused allegedly stopped them, recorded a video of the pair, and assaulted the boy. They are also accused of verbally abusing him with casteist remarks and issuing threats.

Based on a complaint filed by the boy’s father, Pandeshwar police registered a case and arrested the accused. Further investigation is underway.
