Mangaluru: Excise officials bust fake liquor unit at Kadri, seize goods worth Rs 5.57 lakh

Mangaluru, Sep 24, 2025: Excise officials raided an illegal liquor brewing unit at Kadri Lobo Lane in the city and seized property worth about Rs 5,57,690. The raid was conducted based on confirmed information that spurious liquor was being manufactured at the residence of Michael Bais Menezes.

From the house, officials seized 238.5 litres of fake wine, 1,500 litres of fermented wash, 3.18 litres of liquor, and equipment used for producing spurious wine.

Harish P, Excise Sub-Inspector of Mangaluru South Range–1, arrested the accused and produced him before the court. A case has been registered against him under the Karnataka Excise Act.
