Mangaluru: DK DC office illuminated in pink to mark three years of Gruha Lakshmi scheme

Mangaluru, Aug 31, 2026: The Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner’s office building was illuminated in pink on Sunday night to mark the completion of three years of the state government’s Gruha Lakshmi scheme.

The illumination was organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations as part of the celebrations marking the scheme’s third anniversary.

One of the state government’s flagship guarantee schemes, Gruha Lakshmi provides ₹2,000 every month to the woman head of each household, aimed at helping women achieve greater financial independence. The scheme completed three years on August 30 (Sunday).

The government chose pink lighting, regarded as a symbol of women’s pride, to commemorate the milestone. So far, more than ₹76,500 crore has been disbursed to the bank accounts of over 1.20 crore beneficiaries under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme.
