Mangaluru: D.K. Shivakumar, ministers savour Tulu Nadu’s rich culture and cuisine

Mangaluru, Sep 18, 2026: Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, ministers and senior officials experienced the rich cultural traditions and cuisine of Tulu Nadu at a special dinner organised at Tannirbhavi Beach on Thursday night, ahead of the Cabinet meeting scheduled in Mangaluru.

The event featured displays showcasing traditional Daivaradhane practices and Kambala equipment associated with Tulu Nadu. A live kitchen designed in the style of a traditional Guttu house was also set up at the venue.

Wearing a traditional Tulu Nadu shawl, Shivakumar took keen interest in the cultural displays. He blew a traditional horn and held a gaggara, experiencing the sounds associated with the region’s traditional practices.

Guests were served a variety of coastal delicacies, including fish and chicken dishes. A special vegetarian meal was prepared for Chief Minister Shivakumar.

The dinner served not only as a culinary experience but also as an opportunity to showcase the cultural heritage, traditional practices and cuisine of coastal Karnataka.
