Mangaluru : Cops crack Suratkal theft case ; arrest 4 accused

Mangaluru, Sep 22, 2020:    Police have arrested four persons in connection with a major theft at an apartment at Idya in Suratkal last  month. The main accused in the case is an ex-serviceman residing in the same apartment. The police are on the lookout for two more accused, informed Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Vikash Kumar.

Addressing a press meet here on September 22, Tuesday, he said the police have arrested  Naveen, an ex-serviceman and secretary of the apartment complex association, Santosh of Belthangady, Raghu and Amesh of Kerala origin.

The theft had taken place on the night of August 17 in the Jardine Apartment flat belonging to Vidya Prabhu. The accused had entered the flat through the balcony and had fled with a cash of Rs 51 lakh and 224 grams gold.

The investigation had led to the arrest of two accused from Tiruvananthapuram in Kerala. Further interrogations of the accused revealed that Naveen who was the secretary of the Apartment Association was the  mastermind. He  is a manager in a wine shop. Another accused Santosh is a waiter in Naveen’s wine shop.

Police have recovered Rs 30,85,710  cash and 224 grams gold from the accused apart from  a car and two-wheelers.
