Mangaluru: Complaint filed against Prof. Bilimale for allegedly insulting Yakshagana artistes

Mangaluru, Nov 22, 2025: A complaint has been filed at the Urwa Police Station accusing Kannada Development Authority Chairman Purushothama Bilimale of making derogatory remarks about Yakshagana artistes.

Yakshagana artiste Ravi Alevuraya lodged the complaint, alleging that Prof. Bilimale made statements that insulted the Yakshagana art form and its performers. The complaint urges authorities to take appropriate legal action against him.

Not a Case for Filing an FIR: Mangaluru Commissioner

Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudheer Reddy stated that artiste Ravi Alevuraya has filed a complaint, but the matter pertains to defamation. “This is not a case where the police can file an FIR and investigate. The complainant must approach the court,” he clarified.
