Mangaluru–Coimbatore, other train services to face changes due to track maintenance works

Palakkad, Sep 4, 2026: Several train services in the Palakkad division will be cancelled, partially cancelled, rescheduled, regulated or have their originating stations changed on various dates in September and October due to track maintenance works at multiple locations.

The changes announced by the railway authorities are as follows:

Full Cancellation

* Train No. 56604 Shoranur Junction–Coimbatore Junction Passenger will be fully cancelled on September 20 and 29, 2026.
* Train No. 56603 Coimbatore Junction–Shoranur Junction Passenger will be fully cancelled on September 20, 2026.

Train service


Partial Cancellation

* Train No. 16843 Tiruchchirappalli Junction–Palakkad Town Express will be short-terminated at Podanur Junction on September 9, 14 and 16. The service between Podanur Junction and Palakkad Town will remain cancelled.
* Train No. 56603 Coimbatore Junction–Shoranur Junction Passenger will be short-terminated at Lakkiti on September 25 and October 3. The service between Lakkiti and Shoranur Junction will remain cancelled.
* Train No. 16324 Mangaluru Central–Coimbatore Junction Express will be short-terminated at Shoranur Junction on September 25 and October 3. The service between Shoranur Junction and Mangaluru Central will remain cancelled.

Change in Train Origination

* Train No. 16844 Palakkad Town–Tiruchchirappalli Junction Express will originate from Podanur Junction instead of Palakkad Town on September 10, 15 and 17. It will depart from Podanur Junction at its scheduled time of 7.55 am, with the service between Palakkad Town and Podanur Junction cancelled.
* Train No. 56607 Palakkad Junction–Nilambur Road Passenger will originate from Shoranur Junction instead of Palakkad Junction on September 20 and 29. It will depart from Shoranur Junction at 7.05 am on the same day, with the service between Palakkad Junction and Shoranur Junction cancelled.

Rescheduling


* Train No. 56604 Shoranur Junction–Coimbatore Junction Passenger, scheduled to depart Shoranur Junction at 8.20 am on September 22 and October 1, will be rescheduled to depart at 8.50 am on the same day, resulting in a delay of 30 minutes.

Regulation of Train Services

* Train No. 22638 Mangaluru Central–Dr MGR Chennai Central West Coast Express will be regulated for 45 minutes en route on September 6, 8, 10 and 13.
* Train No. 12618 Hazrat Nizamuddin Junction–Ernakulam Junction Mangala Lakshadweep Superfast Express will be regulated for 45 minutes en route on September 5 and 12.
* Train No. 16307 Alappuzha–Kannur Express will be regulated for 30 minutes en route on October 3.
* Train No. 66610 Ernakulam Junction–Palakkad Junction MEMU will be regulated for 35 minutes en route on September 25 and October 3.

Passengers travelling on the affected dates have been advised to check the latest train schedules before commencing their journey and plan their travel accordingly.


Southern Railway Announces Changes in Train Services Due to Track Maintenance


Southern Railway has announced changes to several train services in the Thiruvananthapuram division to facilitate track maintenance works on various days in September and October 2026.

As part of the arrangements, one train service will be partially cancelled, while several others will be regulated en route.

Partial cancellation

Train No. 16306 Kannur–Ernakulam Junction Express, originating from Kannur on September 25, 27 and 29, and October 2, 4, 6, 9, 11 and 13, 2026, will be short-terminated at Thrissur. The service between Thrissur and Ernakulam Junction will remain cancelled on these days.

Regulation of train services

The following trains will be regulated en route on the specified dates:

* Train No. 16348 Mangaluru Central–Thiruvananthapuram Central Express: Delayed by 1 hour on September 25, 27 and 29, and October 2, 4, 6, 9, 11 and 13.
* Train No. 16314 Mangaluru Junction–Thiruvananthapuram North Weekly Antyodaya Express: Delayed by 40 minutes on September 29 and October 6 and 13.
* Train No. 16305 Ernakulam Junction–Kannur Express: Delayed by 30 minutes on September 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22 and 23.
* Train No. 22114 Thiruvananthapuram North–Lokmanya Tilak (T) Bi-Weekly Superfast Express: Delayed by 50 minutes on September 7, 17 and 21.
* Train No. 12684 SMVT Bengaluru–Ernakulam Junction Tri-Weekly Superfast Express: Delayed by 30 minutes on September 7.
* Train No. 16187 Karaikal–Ernakulam Junction Express: Delayed by 1 hour 20 minutes on September 9.
* Train No. 12623 Dr MGR Chennai Central–Thiruvananthapuram Central Superfast Express: Delayed by 50 minutes on September 9.
* Train No. 16526 KSR Bengaluru–Kanyakumari Express: Delayed by 30 minutes on September 9.
* Train No. 66319 Shoranur Junction–Ernakulam Junction MEMU: Delayed by 40 minutes on September 10.

Passengers travelling on the affected dates have been advised to take note of the changes and plan their journeys accordingly.
