Mangaluru: Case registered for obstructing traffic police duty

Mangaluru, Sep 19, 2025: A scooter rider created a ruckus in the city after violating traffic rules and later arguing with a traffic policeman. The incident, which took place near Statebank circle, has now gone viral on social media.

According to eyewitnesses, the traffic police officer on duty had stopped vehicles to allow pedestrians to cross the road. At that moment, the scooterist ignored the signal and sped past. When the officer attempted to stop him, the rider parked his scooter ahead, returned, and picked a quarrel with the policeman.

The video of the altercation soon spread widely online, prompting clarification from the Police Commissioner. He confirmed that the scooterist had violated the traffic signal and unnecessarily argued with the officer. “The policeman was only doing his duty and had committed no mistake,” the Commissioner said.

He further added that in such cases, policemen often find themselves in helpless situations when some individuals deliberately create trouble to attract attention. A case will be registered against the scooterist, officials confirmed.
