Mangaluru Cabinet meet aimed at giving new direction to coastal development: D.K. Shivakumar

Mangaluru, Sep 18, 2026: Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said the Cabinet meeting being held in Mangaluru is aimed at giving a new direction to the development of the coastal region.

Speaking at Mangaluru International Airport, Shivakumar said, “The coastal and Malnad districts have educated and capable people. We are holding the Cabinet meeting with the objective of strengthening this region.”

He said MLAs and MPs from the coastal region had met him and raised various local issues and demands.

“They have placed their demands before us. These demands are on my mind. They have requested that the government extend its support for the development of the region. We will make every effort to fulfil as many of these demands as possible through the Cabinet meeting,” he said.

Special session to discuss Kasturirangan report

Shivakumar said a special session has been convened to discuss the Kasturirangan report and drought-related issues.

“MLAs will be given an opportunity to present their views on the Kasturirangan report. The two-day session will discuss the drought situation and the Kasturirangan report. The Forest Minister will also present the department’s report,” he said.

To seek views of people affected by report

The Chief Minister said he would directly meet people who may be affected by the Kasturirangan report and seek their views.

“I will speak to people affected by the Kasturirangan report. I will go to them directly and gather their opinions,” Shivakumar said.
