
Mangaluru, Mar 24, 2026: Acting on credible information, the Mangaluru City CCB police conducted an operation and seized the banned narcotic substance MDMA, arresting three persons involved in its sale.
The accused had allegedly procured MDMA and were selling it to the public and students in the Pumpwell–Ekkur area using an autorickshaw. Based on the tip-off, the police traced the vehicle on Sunday and apprehended the suspects while they were in possession of the drug.
The arrested have been identified as Haider alias Haider Ali (29), Mohammed Sajjad (29), and Jaison Menezes (26). From their possession, police seized 26 grams of MDMA worth ₹2,50,000, cash amounting to ₹37,000, five mobile phones, a weighing scale, and an autorickshaw bearing registration number KA-19-AC-2245. The total value of the seized items is estimated at ₹4,37,500.
A case has been registered at Kankanady Town Police Station.
Police said that Haider alias Haider Ali has previous cases registered against him, including obstructing police duty at Mangaluru East Police Station, a drug peddling case in 2024, and an assault case at Ullal Police Station.
Authorities further stated that more individuals are believed to be involved in the drug trafficking network, and efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend them. The operation was carried out by officers and staff of the CCB unit, police added.
