
Mangaluru, Apr 21, 2026: A case has been registered after a motorcyclist allegedly abused, assaulted, and obstructed a traffic police officer on duty at Nanthoor Junction on April 18.
According to a complaint filed at Kadri Police Station by traffic east constable Maligere Halesh, the incident occurred while he, along with constables Praveen and G. Champa, was managing traffic at the junction.
During the afternoon, a biker had stopped his vehicle on the free left road towards Bikarnakatte, causing obstruction to traffic. When questioned, the rider allegedly assaulted constable Praveen and used abusive language. A woman accompanying the rider also allegedly threatened to hit him with her slipper.
The accused then snatched Praveen’s mobile phone and smashed it on the ground, damaging it. The loss is estimated at around ₹28,000. Praveen also sustained injuries in the assault and received treatment at a private hospital, the complaint stated.
