Mangaluru: BJP protests against hike in power tariff

Mangaluru, June 05, 2023: The District unit of the BJP staged a protest near the Clock Tower on June 5, Monday to condemn the state government decision to hike power tariff by 70 paise per unit.

 

 

 

 

 

MLA Vedavyas Kamath who too was part of the protest, targeted the state Congress government by stating that the government which announced 200 units of free electricity has on the other hand increased the tariff. He was also critical of the conditions laid down with regard to the 200 units of free electricity. Kamath accused the government of cheating and also took exception to the stoppage of funds for various works.

Party leaders Ravishanker Mijar, deputy mayor Poornima, former mayor Premananda Shetty and others participated in the protest.
