Mangaluru: Another accused arrested in tablet Arif murder case

Mangaluru, May 26, 2026: The Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested another accused in connection with the murder of Arif Hussain alias Tablet Arif, a resident of Uchila Mullugudde, which occurred under the jurisdiction of Ullal police station.

The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammed Ibrahim Sinan alias Chinnu (21), a resident of Padil in Mangaluru. He is the brother of slain rowdy-sheeter Toppi Naufal.

Arif murder case


According to police, in the early hours of March 27, Arif, who was travelling on a motorcycle over the Thokkottu flyover, was allegedly knocked down by miscreants travelling in a car and later attacked with deadly weapons, leading to his death. The accused later abandoned the car used in the crime at Budoli in Bantwal taluk and fled the scene. A case was initially registered at Ullal police station and later transferred to the CCB for investigation.

Police said the accused is involved in two other criminal cases, including an attempt to murder case registered at Kankanady Town police station in 2025 and an assault case registered at Mangaluru North police station in 2024.

During investigation, it was revealed that the accused was present during the conspiracy to murder Arif Hussain in February 2026 and had also provided financial assistance to the accused involved in the March 27 murder case.

In connection with the case, police had earlier arrested Mohammed Rifath Ali, Ibrahim Khalil, Ashfaq alias Juttu Ashfaq, Ummar Farooq Irfan, Mohammed Shakir, Mohammed Rizwan alias Rizwan, Mohammed Irshad alias Akudu, Mohammed Harshad, Nishaq alias Pucche Nishaq, B. Junaid alias Kokkada Junaid, and Mohammed Suhail alias Chiya, and produced them before the court.

All the arrested accused are currently in judicial custody, and investigation is being carried out against them under the Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act (KCOCA).
