Mangaluru: Annual Sri Krishna Vesha Competition by Kalkura Foundation on Sept 14 at Kadri Temple

Mangaluru, Sep 12, 2025: The annual Sri Krishna vesha competition conducted by Kalkura Prathishtana on the occasion of Janmashtami will be held at the Kadri Shree Manjunatha temple in Mangaluru on September 14.

Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, prathishtana president S. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said the event will be held in 43 categories to mark the 43rd year of the competition across nine stages, between noon and midnight of September 14. At midnight, ‘arghaya’ to Krishna will be given and sweets and ‘chakkuli’ will be distributed to all participants.

The 43 categories include the new ‘Sudhama Krishna’, where a team of a minimum of two persons have to enact the life of Krishna-Sudhama for two minutes. The other new category was ‘Tottilu Krishna’ event where family members can come with infants (aged below six months) and put them in the cradle, Mr. Kalkura said.

The other categories of the competition were ‘Kanda Krishna’, ‘Muddu Krishna’, ‘Tunta Krishna’, ‘Bala Krishna’, ‘Kishora Krishna’, ‘Shri Krishna’, ‘Geeta Krishna’, ‘Shanka Naada’, ‘Shanka Udgosha’, ‘Radhakrishna’, ‘Radha Madhava’,’Yashoda Krishna’, ‘Devaki Krishna’, ‘Vasudeva Krishna’, ‘Yaksha Krishna’, ‘Nanda Gokula’, and ‘Chaya Krishna’.

There will be Krishna Varna Vaibhava drawing competition. There will also be three different categories of quiz evens, namely ‘Achhuta Rasaprashne’, ‘Madhava Rasaprashne’, and ‘Keshav Rasaprashne’.

There will be group bhajan competition ‘Pandarapura Vittala’ where Krishna will be in the centre and a group will sing bhajans around him.

Mr. Kalkura said three events, ‘Sri Krishna Gana Vaibhava’, ‘Rangoliyalli Sri Krishna’, and ‘Krishna Katha’ have already been held on the Sharadha School premises.

The ‘Vruksha Krishna’, promoting greening, and ‘Gopalakrishna’, online events will be held for which participants have to submit three-minute long videos.
