Mangaluru, Feb 17, 2026: Home Minister G. Parameshwara reacted in Mangaluru to the stone-pelting incident on a Hindu house in Chikkamagaluru.
He said action has already been taken in connection with the incident. The police will take necessary steps as per the law.
It has been learnt that the girl involved belongs to the Dalit community. Accordingly, the police will register a case under the PCR Act.
Congress MLAs’ foreign visit
Responding to questions about Congress MLAs travelling abroad, Dr. Parameshwara said he is not aware of why they are going.
“They can travel anywhere using their own money. Agriculture exists in Australia and elsewhere as well. They do not have any role in preparing the Budget. The Budget is prepared by the Chief Minister and the Finance Department.
“They have expressed their opinions about the Budget during the CLP meeting. All those views are compiled while preparing the Budget. MLAs can travel wherever they want. There is no conflict within our party,” he said.
Priyank Kharge’s remarks on RSS
On the controversy over Priyank Kharge’s statement about the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the Home Minister said Kharge has expressed his personal opinion.
“I have my own views about the RSS. Priyank Kharge has expressed his own opinion about the RSS. There is no need for me to comment on his views,” he said.
H.C. Mahadevappa’s statement on Dalit CM
Reacting to Minister H. C. Mahadevappa’s remarks about a Dalit Chief Minister, Dr. Parameshwara said Mahadevappa has expressed his opinion.
“Mahadevappa is capable. He has the ability to take up any responsibility assigned to him. That is why he has spoken in that manner.
“In a democracy, some people choose their own leaders and express their views. We cannot say their opinions are wrong. That is their view.
“We have a system in place, and there is a high command. The high command will take a decision at the appropriate time. It is not enough if ten people raise slogans in someone’s favour. The high command will review everything and take a decision.
“At present, I do not think such a situation has arisen. There is currently no discussion about a Dalit CM. We are focused on governance,” he said.
