Mangaluru: Absconding theft accused arrested after seven years

Mangaluru, May 23, 2026: Police have arrested a man who had been absconding for nearly seven years in connection with a theft case registered at the Uppinangady Police Station.

The accused, identified as Akram alias Boja Akram, a resident of Kasba Bengre in Mangaluru, was wanted in Crime No. 158/2015 registered under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC. He had failed to appear before the court for trial and had been evading arrest for around seven years.


Abscond theft accused

On May 22, 2026, a team led by Investigation-2 PSI Kaushik BC, along with HC-826 Shivarama Rai and PC-2277 Mahadeva, traced and arrested the accused in Panambur, Mangaluru.

The accused was produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.

Police said that three cases are registered against the accused at the Panambur Police Station and one case at the Ullal Police Station.
