Mangaluru: Absconding accused arrested at airport after returning from Dubai

Mangaluru, Sep 6, 2025: An accused who had been absconding for nearly three years without appearing before the court and hiding in Dubai has been arrested upon his arrival in Mangaluru.

The accused has been identified as Vishal Kumar. A case against him was registered at Kavoor Police Station in 2016. However, since 2022 he had failed to appear before the court, leading to a non-bailable warrant being issued. Following confirmed information that he was in Dubai, a Lookout Circular (LOC) was also issued against him.

On September 4, 2025, Kumar arrived at Mangaluru International Airport, where officials from the Bureau of Immigration detained him and handed him over to Kavoor police. He was produced before the III Additional District and Sessions Court, which remanded him to judicial custody till September 18, 2025.

Police said that since the accused had deliberately evaded court proceedings for around three years, a fresh case was registered under Section 269 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Kavoor Police Station (Crime No. 133/2025). He also faces another case at Barke Police Station.
