Mangaluru: Absconding accused arrested after 19 years

Mangaluru, Feb 5, 2026: Ullal police have arrested an accused who had been absconding for the past 19 years in connection with a criminal case registered at the Ullal police station in 2007.

The accused has been identified as Anwar alias Anwar Hussain (42), son of Hussain, a resident of Naseema Manzil, Kaiko Road, Subhash Nagar, Ullal.

The case pertains to Ullal police station Crime No. 285/2007, registered under Sections 341, 384, 504 and 506 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code. The case was later taken up by the 3rd JMFC Court, Mangaluru, as CC No. 2904/2014.

As the accused had been absconding for several years, the 3rd JMFC Court, Mangaluru, had issued a Long Pending Case (LPC) warrant against him. Acting on the warrant, Ullal police traced and arrested the accused.

He was later produced before the 3rd JMFC Court, Mangaluru, police sources said.
