Mangaluru : 5 arrested for blocking, attacking person legally transporting beef

Mangaluru, June 22, 2020:    Police have arrested five persons  in connection with Sunday’s incident of  intercepting a vehicle which was lawfully  transporting beef to the market at Kankanady from the Kudroli abattoir. The assailants had also assaulted the driver.

 

Those arrested are Dikshith Kumar (19) from Hosabettu,  Raju Poojary (19) from Kuchigudde, Santosh Kumar (31), Balachandra (28) and Rakshit( 22) of Ullal.

 The accused had waylaid the tempo carrying  200 kg beef to the Kankanady market and had attacked the driver Rashid. They also damaged the tempo and had reportedly poured kerosene on the beef but had to  flee when people gathered around.
