Mangaluru: 3 arrested for immoral policing at Hampankatta

Mangaluru, Dec 23, 2023: Police have arrested three persons in connection with an immoral policing incident at Hampankatta wherein a young couple was harassed on the grounds that they belonged to different communities.

 

Those arrested are Sandesh (28), Ronith (31) and Prashanth (31). The incident took place near an eatery at Hampankatta at around 1 pm on December 21. It is  learnt Sandesh  intercepted a boy and a girl from Kerala and wanted to see their ID card just to know their religion. The young pair had immediately boarded an autorickshaw but the  accused tried to stop the autorickshaw and even abused the driver. Later people around  intervened and ensured things did not go out of hand.

Later, following a complaint lodged by the autorickshaw driver the three accused were arrested.
