Mangaluru : 3 arrested for attacking cops on night patrol at Chilimbi

Mangaluru, June 21, 2022: Three persons have been arrested by the Urwa police on the charges of attacking two cops on a  night patrolling duty at Urwa Chilimbigudde. The incident reportedly took place on Sunday night.

 

The arrested are Rakshith, Prajwith and Durgesh. Police said the accused are Sri Rama Sene activists.

Cops Venkatesh and Dhananjaya were injured in the assault. The two were on night patrolling in Chilimbigudde area  at around 1.30 am when a group of eight youth was seen consuming alcohol and  chatting. The cops were attacked when they questioned the youth. One of the accused even tried to run over the cops in his bike.

The injured cops have been hospitalised. The accused have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
