
Mangaluru, Oct 5, 2026: A 27-year-old man died while undergoing treatment after the car in which he was travelling to Mantralaya was involved in an accident near Banakal.
The deceased has been identified as Deepesh (27), a resident of Mantaje in Shishila village.

The accident occurred at around 3.40 am on September 29 on National Highway 73 near Sabbenahalli village, when a car travelling from the Mudigere side allegedly collided with the vehicle carrying the group.
Deepesh, who was seated in the rear, sustained injuries to his neck, while Sudhin, former president of Shishila Gram Panchayat, suffered an injury to his left shoulder. Raghu, Satish, Nagaraj and Deepak also sustained minor injuries.
Deepesh and Sudhin were initially shifted to SDM Hospital in Ujire for further treatment. Deepesh was later admitted to Father Muller Hospital in Mangaluru on the advice of doctors. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The injured persons have alleged that they informed the police that the driver of the car that caused the accident was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. However, they claimed that the information was not included in the FIR and alleged that attempts were being made to divert the case.
