Mangaluru: 26-year-old youth killed after bike rams into lorry at Ekkur

Mangaluru, Jun 22, 2026: A 26-year-old youth lost his life after the motorcycle he was riding rammed into the rear of a moving lorry on the Ekkur railway overbridge along National Highway 66 on Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Sudheesh C.K., a resident of Pathoor in Varkady, Manjeshwar. He was working as an air-conditioner mechanic.

Accident at ekkur-youth dies


According to police, Sudheesh was travelling from his hometown towards Mangaluru when the accident occurred. Preliminary investigations indicate that overspeeding may have contributed to the mishap.

Sources said Sudheesh’s motorcycle crashed into a lorry moving ahead of him on the overbridge, causing him to suffer severe head injuries. Local residents rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries due to excessive blood loss despite medical efforts.

Officials from the Mangaluru South Traffic Police Station visited the accident site, conducted an inspection, and registered a case. Investigations are underway.
