Mangaluru: 20-year-old woman dies after falling under tipper lorry in Surathkal

Mangaluru, Aug 21: A 20-year-old woman died on the spot after being run over by a tipper lorry near the MRPL cargo gate on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Shwetha (20), a native of Uttara Kannada, currently residing at Katipalla Kaikamba. She was riding pillion on a bike driven by her brother, who sustained minor injuries.

According to police, the siblings were on their way to Surathkal when Shwetha fell from the bike and was run over by a tipper lorry coming from behind. The vehicle crushed her upper body, leading to her instant death.

The lorry driver reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled. Mangaluru North traffic police rushed to the spot, registered a case, and seized the lorry.
