
Mangaluru, Jun 16, 2026: A 16-year-old first-year PUC Science student died by suicide by hanging herself at her residence near Someshwar bus stand, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Samanvi, a bright student studying at a local private educational institution. She was the daughter of Shanthi, a resident of Someshwar.
According to police sources, the incident occurred while Samanvi’s mother and elder sister were at home. Family sources said that she had gone to her room on the pretext of taking a bath. When she did not come out for a long time, her family members grew suspicious and, after breaking open the door, found her hanging inside the room.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Ullal police rushed to the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem examination. A case of unnatural death has been registered under the Unnatural Death Report (UDR) provisions.
Investigating officers said no suicide note was found at the scene, and the exact reason behind the incident remains unknown. Police are examining all possible angles, including academic pressure, as part of the ongoing investigation.
Samanvi is survived by her father, mother and sister.
