Mangalore, Sep 13, 2013 : It has been gathered that the National Investigation Agency which is investigating into the terror module has found that the Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal and his aide Asadulla Baig used to stay in a rented house at Attavar in Mangalore and were manufacturing bombs.
It is also learnt that it was on the basis of this information that the two ultras were secretly brought to Mangalore on September 7, Saturday by the NIA for investigations.
It is learnt that Asadullah had admitted during interrogations that the bombs used in the Bangalore and Hyderabad blasts were made in Mangalore.
Interrogations of Asadullah have also revealed that the two used to stay in Apartment No. 301 on the third floor of Zephyr Heights at Attavar.
Sources said the NIA officials have seized 50 digital watches, wires used for fixing in bombs, a few mobile phones, three electrical detonators 125 gram ammonium nitrate gel and a book having details of making a bomb circuit. It is in this backdrop that the NIA officials have realised that Mangalore had become a bomb lab of the ultras.
When enquired the building owners say they have only seen media reports but have no other information.
It is learnt, Asadullah had stayed in this house for a period of six months upto March this year and used the bomb manufactured here to blast in Hyderabad on February 21. Later, he had returned to Mangalore and then fled the place.
There is information that Asadullah was accompanied by Tahsin Akhtar Alias Monu alias Hassan (23) of Bihar and Waqas alias Ahmed (28) both who were experts in fixing the circuit for the bomb.
It is learnt both were part of the 2011 Mumbai blasts and 2013 Hyderabad blasts. Sources also revealed that they were in the flat till Yasin and Asadullah were arrested and had later fled out of fear.
However, local police say they are unaware that Yasin and his aide Asadullah Khan resided in flat at Attavar to prepare bombs A senior police officer meanwhile suspects if such news is being spread deliberately.
Explosives from Udupi : There is also information that Yasin used to collect explosive materials for disruptive activities from Udupi and nearby villages where there were stone quarries. This was revealed by Aftab Alam alias Farooq, an ultra arrested by the NIA.
