Mangalore United to celebrate its KPL victory on Oct 9

Mangalore, October 6: Mangalore United will celebrate its recent Karnataka Premier League (KPL) victory on Oct 9, Saturday.

B A MoideenBawa, the owner of the team, told reporters that a victory procession will form part of the celebrations. The procession will commence at NITK grounds at 2 p.m. and will proceed to Nehru Maidan through Kulai, Kottara, Lalbhag, Bunts Hostel, and Jyothi Circle. The trophy will be placed in an open truck, which will be decorated with the Mangalore United colors.


The victory procession will also illustrate the culture of Tulunadu; accordingly, a tableaux of Hulivesha, Yakshagana troupes, chende kombu  vaadya, kalladka gombe, Nasik band, and others will accompany it. More than 5000 sports enthusiasts are expected to witness this parade. A stage progamme will be held on Nehru Maidan at 6 p.m., during which the trophy will be displayed.


Mr. Bawa also said that a felicitation programme will also be held at Dr. T. M. A. Pai International Convention Centre at 7 p.m., during which the team members will be honoured. He said that the Mangalore United Cricket Academy will be formally launched on this occasion and all the eminent personalities of the district will be given honorary membership of this academy.
