Mangalore: Thieves burgle Sub-Registrar’s office

Mangalore, Jun 14, 2013: There has been a burglary in the office of the Headquarters of Sub-Registrar and Registrar of Marriages, located at the premises of the DC office. It is suspected that the robbers gained entry into the office by breaking open the locks on the night of June 13, Thursday.

Though it is not immediately known as to what has been stolen, sources said a cash of Rs 65,000 has been stolen. It has been learnt that the office had stored several valuable records which did not have any copies or  computer back-up.

Forensic and finger print experts have been pressed into service and Pandeshwar police are conducting the investigations. The entire premises had only one security guard at night.

Mangalore South MLA  JR Lobo visited the office and  hoped that the thieves would soon be  arrested. He also assured to take up with the government the need to  have proper room to store official records.

The registration works which were scheduled to be held on June 14, Friday, has been postponed to Saturday.
