The dharna has been organised by the Street Vendors  Association of Mangalore affiliated to the CITU.

Hundreds of street vendors are taking part in the protest   to request the City Corporation to make alternate arrangements for them. Sunil Kumar Bajal, CITU leader is leading the agitation.

Here it is worth recalling that a clash had ensued  between Central Market merchants and street vendors recently after the former tried to evict the street vendors citing loss of business. However, the street vendors have appealed to the authorities to ensure justice to them instead of hitting at their bellies.
