Though the vehicle was intercepted near Besant College, even before the cops could apprehend the youth, the latter were thrashed by the public. The angry mob even damaged the vehicle. That the rear seats of the vehicle had been removed further substantiated doubts that the duo had planned to smuggle cattle. Even ropes and two rods were found.

The duo namely Basheer(22) and Sattar(23) have been detained by the Kadri police. There is a suspicion that the duo was once earlier  caught while  smuggling cattle and that one of them was released on bail just recently.

Kadri police are investigating the case.
