Mangalore: Personnel guarding EVMs hit by Malaria

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, May 10, 2014: Reliable local sources point out  that  Malaria and unhygienic conditions have laid low Security and Police personnel on round the clock guard duty at so called  ’Strong Rooms’  at MGC College, Bondel, Mangalore. The all  vital EVM’s are secured for counting on May16, at this College.

A good number of  CISF, Armed Reserve and others as well as election officials are suffering from Malaria attacks. The facilities at this place in Mangalore are far from satisfactory and the personnel are facing many trials in the course of their duties. This can jeopardize the election results too.  In comparison the situation in Udupi is far more reasonable it is said.

In and around the MGC College, Mangalore there is no canteen, eateries and so on. The District Administration has not provided proper food nor shelter at this campus for the security forces. It is deplorable that security personnel who are sacrificing for the good of the Country are not cared for adequately - recent reports from several polling centers indicate that security and poll officials are getting a bad deal.

The all powerful  EC must look into this as other Govt. officials are not inclined to. The general citizenry pity’s the sufferers and are keen suitable action must be taken at the earliest to sort out matters.
