Mangalore: Mosques at Karnad, Kulai and Mukka stoned by miscreants

Mangalore, Dec 17,2012: Three mosques in the taluk have been stoned by miscreants in the wee hours of December 17, Monday.


The window panes of the Karnad Jumma Masjid near Mulki,  Badriya Masjid at Kulai and Mukka Jumma Masjid have been damaged in the attacks. The incidents came to light early in the morning.

The window panes on the first floor of Karnad masjid have been damaged in the attack. There was no one in the mosque when the attack took place. Stones, bottles and used coconuts  which were hurled were found inside the masjid building.  It is learnt  that the assailants had brought the stones in gunny bags and then hurled  them at the mosques from the road. Even the Badria Masjid at Kulai and Jumma Masjid at Mukka have been attacked in a similar fashion.


Senior police officials have rushed to the spot.


According to reports, the masjid at Karnad had been attacked twice earlier too with no action taken to apprehend the culprits. Moidin Bava, Minorities Cell President of the District Congress, has visited the attacked mosques. He has  described the attacks  as nothing but a ploy to disturb peace and harmony in the area. He also demanded that the police should ensure measures to arrest the guilty immediately.
