Mangalore, Jan 10 ,2013: Hamaali workers, under the aegis of the CITU took out a protest march from Bunder to the Deputy Commissioner’s office, on January 10, Thursday demanding better roads and good drainage facilities in the Bunder area. The protestors also took their handcarts along with them.
The agitators said despite Bunder being a prominent commercial place of the city, the roads were in a mess. They said the hamaali workers found it extremely difficult to pass through the roads along with their handcarts carrying goods.
The protestors also pointed out how many of them get injured due to bad roads and added the disorderly drainage facility even created problems at times due to rupture of pipes.
They said the protest was organised after repeated appeal with the authorities failed to yield any result.
Willy Wilson, President of Bunder Shramikara Sangha, B K Imthiyaz, Chief Secretary and other office bearers and workers took part in the protest.
