Mangalore: Fire mishap in footwear shop near State Bank

Mangalore, Mar 29, 2013: A footwear  shop near the Rao & Rao Circle on State Bank  road was gutted in a fire that broke out  in the shop late night on March 28, Thursday.

The shop named Sri Mahadeva Footwear in the Vasudeva Enclave Complex caught fire at around midnight due to a suspected short circuit. A passerby who noticed the fire  informed the police.

Soon  fire tender vehicles rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire by about 4.30 pm before it could spread to nearby shops. Luckily the fire did not engulf a chemical shop located close by.

The footwear shop is owned by one Babulal and the extent of loss is not yet ascertained. Sources said the storage area of the shop was gutted in the fire.

Bunder police have registered a case.
