Mangalore Diocese holds annual diocesan Eucharistic procession

Mangalore, Jan 9, 2012 : The annual diocesan Eucharistic procession, along with a mass, was held on Jan 8 Sunday. The mass was celebrated by Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, along with Fr. Walter D’Mello, the parish priest of Milagres; Fr. Stany Goveas, the parish priest of Rosario; Msgr. Denis Moras Prabhu, the diocesan vicar general; and nearly 70 priests from all over Mangalore Diocese.

The procession set out from Milagres Church after the mass, singing hymns and reciting prayers, and proceeded to Rosario Cathedral, where a large number of people were waiting for it.

Fr. Leo Lasrado, the professor of St. Joseph’s Seminary in Jeppu, delivered the homily at Rosario Cathedral.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The ceremony came to an end with the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

The diocese also organized a felicitation ceremony to honor the parishes that contributed the highest on Mission Sunday. The first place was bagged by St. Francis Xavier Church in Bejai.

The bishop, in his address, thanked all those who had worked hard for the success of this event. He also spoke about the post centenary silver jubilee celebrations of the diocese, which are scheduled to be held on Feb 11 – 12. He then imparted the Papal blessings and concluded the event.
